This full back features a vigorous traditional Oni mask related to Japanese mythology with an aggressive, angry expression typical of demons and ogres. Due to the shape of the design, it was difficult for the tattoo to reach below the lower back, so to create a complete composition, peonies were added to the buttocks, which are also very typical of Japanese culture. This not only gave the design a visual balance but also softened the project, creating a harmonious structure that flows with the body’s anatomy and providing a contrast between the aggressiveness of the Oni and a more delicate touch with the floral elements.
