Diabolus in Musica Demon

This custom rib piece is a representation of the Diabolus in Musica, or also known as the Devil´s Interval; in music theory it’s called a tritone. There is something unsettling about this tritone, it wants to go somewhere..and due to this ambiguity, it was associated back in the day with the Devil. In certain eras it was even prohibited to be used in music composition, especially in the Renaissance, where all music basically had one purpose: to be beautiful and express the majesty of God. So to represent this we went for a demon playing a violin, where you can only imagine the sound that it is bringing to life from its violin is filled with these unsettling tritones, defying all rules of how music should have sounded back in the day.
This rib piece was executed in just one session, the client showed an amazing perseverance and pushed through a staggering 7 hour session.
